You should experience ‘Qi’ before starting the exercise routine. Stand with your feet between shoulder width and hip width apart with the toes turned slightly out. Breathe deeply and relax. Before doing the Qigong exercises you should focus and find ‘Qi’ by putting your hands in front of your stomach and pointing them at an angle toward the ground. Then when you sense ‘qi’ — warmth or a feeling of life in your fingertips often with a tingling sensation you can start the movement routine. Waving your hands around without actually experiencing ‘Qi’ may defeat the purpose of the exercise. The goal is to clear blockages, release pain and refresh the body and mind. The movements are done very slowly.
